October 4, 2017
Since The Literacy Club Foundation’s inception in 2015, we have been on a mission to provide books to kids to unlock their imagination & lives. To date we have created over 50 amazing book boxes, as well as, given away over 50,000 brand new books to kids throughout Los Angeles. We believe investing in Literacy is the greatest investment we make in our future.
On October 4, 2017, we became the first ever Kiwanis Literacy Club of Southern California creating even greater opportunities to even more books to kids. We are doing this through our Be A Book Hero™ project with a goal to give away another 20,000 books in 2018.
Check out some of the people who decided to take this journey with us. Special thanks to Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Lt Governors Valarie Brown-Klingelhoefer & Alan Guire who helped to guide us through the process of creating Kiwanis Literacy Club. It really was an amazing night celebrating the power of books
Books & spreading some holiday cheer. The team gave away over 1,000 books to several events and our co-founders once again pulled out the red suits and transformed into Santa & Mrs Claus. Lots of smiles & hugs were had by all and we look forward to even more next year. This year we supported events at LAPD Van Nuys; LAPD Rampart; USC Public Safety Breakfast with Santa and Councilman Paul Krekorian’s Holiday Toy Drive.
The Literacy Club doesn't just build a library and leave it, we stay connected to each library and location. We are always ready to help with replenishing new books or doing maintenance to keep the library looking great so it can continue to inspire. Check out some of the recent restocking and maintenance the team has done.
